Doug Oliver

214060 Sierra Symphony

Acrylic on Canvas

Image Size 36 x 24

Contemporary acrylic artist Doug Oliver creates soaring landscape images through a symphonic marriage of sky and shape. This maestro of his medium combines solid rolling vistas and majestic skies forming over his own unique perspective of the grand views of the southwest.

Untrammeled and untamed, Oliver's landscape promote a sense of strength and solitude found very rarely in an increasing complex world. Every vision created by Oliver rises and swells in a melodic and aria-like fashion.

Born in Ohio, Oliver grew up in California where he received his formal education. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Chouinard Art Institute, California Institute of the Arts, and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Redlands, California. A former art educator, he began his career as a full-time artist in 1981.

Articles on the art of Doug Oliver have been featured in Southwest Art and Art of the West magazines. His work has been published by Leslie Levy Fine Art Publishing, a division of Bentley Publishing Group, Winn Devon Art Group, distributors of fine art prints and posters throughout the world.

He and his wife Barbara, live in northern Arizona, where they maintain their home and studio high on a hill overlooking the Prescott National Forest. They have two adult sons, Jeffrey (Web Developer for Amylin Pharmaceuticals in San Diego) and Jason (Sound, Dialogue and Music Editor, Warner Bros. Studios, Burbank).
